Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society (TFOS) is an organization promoting eye health education. In 2007, TFOS organized the first Dry Eye Workshop (DEWS I), which was published in a journal The Ocular Surface (2007 Report of the International Dry Eye WorkShop. Ocul Surf 2007;5[2]:65-206). DEWS I became the bible for research in the dry eye field. Now 10 years later, TFOS again organized DEWS II, which updates the definition, classification and diagnosis of dry eye disease, assesses the etiology, mechanism, distribution and global impact of this disorder, and addresses its management and therapy.
I was lucky enough to be one of the Committee members of DEWS II, and wrote parts of Sex, Gender, and Hormones Report. Below is the image of this article.
I encourage you to read or glance through DEWS II if you are interested in dry eye whether as a patient, an eye doctor, or a scientist, as this represents the latest advancement in dry eye diagnosis, treatment and research.
